In your browser
The Five-Digit Desk is built as static HTML before anyone visits, and each page reaches you exactly as it was built. Its stylesheet lives on this domain too. No JavaScript, analytics, tracking pixel, embedded player, outside font or image is involved, so your browser talks to this server and to nobody else while you read. No cookie or local-storage entry from this domain stays behind on your device. Nobody can register, log in, leave a comment or subscribe.
On the web server
Requests are handled by nginx. Every page you open adds one entry to its access log: your IP address, a timestamp, the address requested, the status code, the number of bytes sent, the page you came from if your browser chooses to say, and the user agent your browser announces. When a request goes wrong, the error log notes it, sometimes with an IP address. A new pair of log files starts each day, and a day’s files are erased once they reach 14 days old. The logs get read when a page fails to load or an automated scanner starts hammering the server, and at no other time. Nobody buys them, nobody else receives them, and they are never cross-referenced with other records.
Writing in
Mail sent to editor@usshortcodedirectory.com brings your address and your message. Both serve one purpose, which is writing back. No mailing list exists for them to join and no third party receives them. Ask, and the correspondence is erased.
Cited pages
A page may cite CTIA, a carrier or a company’s help center. Visiting that source means dealing with its publisher’s server under its publisher’s privacy rules, which this site has no say over.
Copies and deletion
A request for a copy of your data, or for its removal, can come from any country and goes to the address above. There is little to hand over: two weeks of log entries at most, plus your correspondence.
