This seems to be a commonly-used Multifactor access shortcode (“SECURE”) used by multiple companies to send SMS text verification codes to log into websites and other systems. Microsoft, Sony, eBay among others all seem to use it. (When you have the same cell phone for three years, that text message history builds up.) However it stands to reason that less reputable folks may use it for scams. If you get a code and you didn’t request a login, maybe your phone number used to be somebody else’s for a code a long time ago.
Can someone use this Short Code to text someone that you don’t want your Spouse to know about?
Total Scumbags Fuck tards!!!!
Fake ass lying scumbag foreign POS California fruitcakes, that’s who is sending it .
Short codes are passed around like an old weed pipe. They’re supposed to be specifically allocated to one entity UNLESS the entities are on the shared platform.
Nobody follows the rules because essentially, there is no embodied enforcement (telecommunications police)
Abuse of the system could eventually lead to the demise of current messaging systems that do not include hardware tagging which in my opinion should have been from its conception
This number is used by Microsoft for verification when your phone is associated with your outlook Hotmail or live account. Each time you need to look into or change any settings associated with your account you have to verify.
This is a scam. If you dare text STOP back, a scammer will call you up shortly afterwards. IGNORE or report it to the FTC.
You call this a non-vanity short code? I suppose it’s just a coincidence that 732873 corresponds to the letters SECURE on the phone keypad!
I’ve noticed this misclassification for many other codes in your directory, unfortunately.
I hate phones
Best comment ever.
Multiple companies use this number to send out Security/Verification codes. So far, I have seen the following companies use this number: Symantec’s Norton, Microsoft, Steam, Blizzard Entertainment, and Yahoo!. If you receive a text message from this number, your phone number has been registered with an account from one of these companies (by either yourself, or accidentally by someone else).
here is my verification code 732873.sing me in google.
Is this really the short code for Google or ??
For the last 2 days have received the following message with a verification code “Your verification code is (code).” This isn’t the 1st time.
On 4/30/17 I received several codes and finally after getting one at 11 pm I responded with “help” and got the following return message “Verify Phone Query: 1msg/query. Questions? Please call 888-511-2891. Reply STOP to cancel. Msg&data rates may apply.” In each instance, I had not requested a code for any account of any type that I have.
