why the hell is my number here

Bloomberg radio in DC exhorts listeners to text REFORM to this short code number to thank Barbara Comstock for supporting tax reform. The message is presumptuous, wrong (the supposed reform sells out the next generation), and irritating (I’m supposed to thank a legislator in a gerrymandered congressional district that doesn’t respond to calls, mail, or email from a constituent).

  3. TheRealKrackels (@TheRealKrackels) on September 12, 2016 at 9:43 pm

Received vague text urging me to contact congress “DC insiders are opposing critical Conservative reform legislation. Call them right now and tell them to support Justice Reform. 201-645-5722. -FW” and “There’s less than 48 hours to move conservative bills that will lower crime and cut federal spending happen. Take :30s to make a call right now. 201-645-5722”
I replied HELP and received this reply “Mobile Advocacy Alerts. More help at 866-984-7220. 4 msgs/month. MsgDtaRtsMayAply. Reply STOP to cancel.” Called the number and got a recording. If they had a bill number in the text I could research the bill they urged me to support, but as it stands I don’t know whether the bill(s) are good or bad. Likewise, when I called the 1-866 number I only got a recording telling me to leave a message after the tone. No company/organization name. Since I don’t recall”opting in” for this message, I’m ready to label it as spam.
